Dreading report card comments? Spend less time writing them, and more time making them personal.

You know each student's strengths, progress, and next steps. But turning all those observations into thoughtful, individual comments takes hours. Gradefully helps you get past the blank page with AI-assisted drafts you refine to reflect every student's story.

You bring the insight. Gradefully drafts in your voice.

You know your students. The hard part is finding the time to write about every one of them.

  • Hours of writing. Drafting and refining comment after comment, often starting from scratch.
  • Making each one meaningful. Balancing individual strengths, curriculum expectations, and clear next steps.

Gradefully helps you get a first draft down, so you can focus on the details that make your feedback genuinely personal.

AI drafts. You make it about the student.

Generic comments aren't enough. Your students deserve feedback grounded in their learning, their progress, and the next steps that will help them grow.

  1. 1

    Tell it what matters.

Keep or remove the suggested strengths and next steps, and add the example only you know.

  2. 2

    Generate.

One student at a time or the whole class. Skip the blank page.

  3. 3

    Make it yours.

Edit the draft, or ask for a change in plain words. Approve it when it reads like you.

Drafts that sound like you, not like a robot.

Every teacher writes differently. As you edit and rate comments, Gradefully learns the ones you like, and the next drafts follow your lead.

  • Comments that learn from you. Rate a comment you like, or rewrite one your way, and the next drafts take the cue.
  • Your rules, once. Set up how you want comments written, the structure, the tone, the length, and use it in every course.
  • Still your call. Nothing you did not approve ever leaves the page.

Ontario report cards come with their own demands.

Support a reporting workflow that takes Ontario teachers' context seriously, including meaningful assessment, student progress, and the need for clear next steps.

Learning Skills comments for Grades 1 to 8.

Responsibility, Organization, Independent Work, Collaboration, Initiative, and Self-Regulation: six areas that call for specific, constructive feedback about each student.

English or French. Both, if that is your timetable.

French Immersion in the morning, English in the afternoon: Gradefully drafts each course's comments in the language of its report card.

  • Language per course. Set it once; every draft, suggestion and export for that course follows.
  • A French app, not a translated one. The whole interface, the tours and the help are written in French, with the right report card vocabulary.
  • Exports in both. Word, PDF and CSV come out in the course's language.

From blank page to thoughtful feedback in three steps.

  1. 1

    Set up the report.

Pick the kind of comment, the tone and the length, and tick the assignments to consider. Before you write flags anything that would weaken the comments, like an assignment with no description.

  2. 2

    Write the comments.

For each student, Gradefully suggests strengths and next steps from the work you included and the short notes beside the grades. Keep what rings true, add anything specific, then generate, one student or the whole class. Edit the draft or ask for a change, and approve.

  3. 3

    Export.

Word, PDF, CSV, or copy one comment at a time into your board's reporting software.

Your students are unique. Their feedback should be, too.

AI can help with structure and drafting, but you bring the knowledge of each student's learning, personality, progress, and potential. Gradefully is there to support your process, not replace your professional judgment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Gradefully replace my judgment as a teacher?

No. It drafts; you keep or remove the suggestions, edit or ask for a change, and approve each comment before anything is exported.

Can I use it for Ontario report cards?

Yes. Built-in comment styles for Ontario subjects, a Learning Skills report for grades 1 to 8, and report comments in English or French, set per course.

Can it help with Learning Skills comments for grades 1 to 8?

Yes. Type a level for each of the six skills, keep or remove the suggested strengths and next steps, add a note about the student, and generate one comment per student across every subject.

Can I edit the comments it generates?

Yes, two ways: edit the draft directly, or tell it what to change (shorter, warmer, mention group work) and get a rewrite. A finished report can be reopened for edits.

How does Gradefully handle student information?

Gradefully sends only the data the draft needs to our AI provider. Student names are replaced with codes before anything is sent, so the provider never knows who your student is. Your data is never used to train models, is deleted from the provider's servers after 30 days (kept only for abuse monitoring), and is encrypted in transit and at rest. Full details in the privacy policy.

How do I get the comments into my board's system?

Export the report to Word, PDF or CSV, or copy one comment at a time from the export step.

Does it learn how I write?

Comments you rate highly or rewrite substantially become examples of your voice, and later drafts follow them. You can turn this off in Settings.

Does it work in French?

Yes. The report language is set per course, so a French Immersion course drafts in French while the others draft in English. The app itself is fully in French too.

Less time staring at a blank page. More time celebrating student growth.

Let Gradefully draft, so you can focus on the students behind the comments.
